Promote Coal Industry Transformation Through Internet Thinking 15 May 2018

China's coal industry has a huge market and is China's pillar industry. According to the relevant report of the Statistics Bureau, China's coal production in 2017 was 3.445 billion tons with an increase of 3.3%, of which thermal coal supply was 2.847 billion tons. It is tentatively expected that the coal production in 2018 will increase slightly to 3.544 billion tons, of which thermal coal will reach more than 2.9 billion tons. If China continues to increase supply and release production capacity according to market demand, the production capacity will exceed 3.6 billion tons, or even reach 3.65 billion tons. Among them, thermal coal supply is expected to reach a level of 3 billion tons.
In recent years, due to overcapacity in the coal industry, there are too many traditional trading and circulation links, price opacity, and information asymmetry, making it difficult for customers to directly purchase high-quality, low-cost coal. At the same time, traditional upstream and downstream ports generally have problems such as high inventory saturation, slow turnover, inefficient use of yards etc.
In fact, coal is a good thing, but some of the emission problems that humans have used in its use have not yet been resolved. However, after years of development, the current level of safety in China's coal production and the ultra-low emission technology of coal has been very advanced. China's coal-based energy structure will not change for a long period of time, and It is not advisable to impose coal uniformity, and coal power still has room for development in the future.
With the deepening implementation of supply-side reform and revitalization of the industrial economy, the proposed real economy has always been the foundation of China's development. The top priority is to accelerate the transformation and upgrading. To promote the development of the “Internet Plus” and promote the accelerated growth of the digital economy, allowing enterprises to benefit from it and benefit the general public. It is felt that the traditional coal industry urgently needs efficient linkages to shorten the transaction chain, enhance transaction efficiency, and use the Internet to transform traditional industries. The integration of the two industries provides a new path for the coal industry to get out of difficulties and transform, upgrade and develop.
The characteristics of the coal industry itself determine that it will be different from the industrial internet development of most manufacturing industries. It cannot simply copy and apply the internet experience of the manufacturing industry. This requires the coal industry to work together to study and explore industrial internet model and platform in accordance with its own characteristics.
For the coal e-commerce platform, it is necessary to connect the upstream and downstream loops of the industrial chain, with price index and transaction data as the core, and to use the Internet to provide more efficient supply and marketing collaboration, more innovative supply chain financing solutions, and more optimized logistics services. A bridge connecting upstream and downstream industrial chain enterprises will be set up to promote the transformation and upgrading of the traditional coal industry so as to transform the entire traditional coal industry distribution channels and help the real economy develop innovatively.
